Do I have more SEC pride than most bc I don't live in SE?

Year after year it seems that Im more and more alone in my support of whatever SEC school is playing in the BCS Title game. It's now to the point where I'm basically John the Baptist when it comes to cheering for Alabama over whoever else in the MNC.

The best reason I can come up with for my SEC pride is that I haven't lived in the south for quite a while. It's very important for me up north or out west to identify myself with my college days. Living in Big 10 country was brutal - the entitled Ohio State fans who just KNEW they were better than Florida and LSU... The Wisconsin fans who seemed to think that their slow-as-molasses skill guys could hang with LSU and Bama...

Out in PAC 12 country, the Stanford / Oregon fans who have their West coast bias...

Does anybody else who lives in big 12 or Big Ten country feel the same as me? it seems like as logical an explanation as any.

I still have SEC pride, but Bama's dominance does nothing for us.

So geaux SEC, unless you're Bama.

Meh. I live up north. Perhaps this was true years ago for me, but it died in 2011. I no longer give a shite. I'll cheer for anyone over Bama.

Vegas I am with you and I suspect we are older than many on the board, I think it is not only that many people are jealous of Bama's success but our culture in general has moved away from loyalty to the "whole" to loyalty to "subgroups".

We are no longer Americans, we are Native Americans, Italian Americans, Irish Americans, Afro-Americans, adnausium.

We are not longer SEC members, we are LSU fans; somehow we cannot reconcile our membership to a larger group anymore. My 2 cents.

OK, the flaming can start now

I think it's clear cut that the SEC is the best conference. However, I don't think we are as far ahead of the Pac 12 as some of you would like to think. Sure our "elite" teams are generally better, but the conference as a whole is pretty comparable. Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona and Arizona State all play pretty good football. They are a legitimate conference.

The B1G on the other hand....whew. Except for Ohio State, they are filled with just mediocre football teams. Sure, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska and such aren't "bad", but they are pretty average.
