If she has an underlying issue about depression she's not gonna have self esteem enough and that is usually common even if it scared you don't let it...the only thing you might have to work harder at is building her self-esteem and some cases it's worth it I have experience

Depression can be crippling emotionally at times and when/if it gets that bad you just have to be strong so the fact that she's sharing this with you means she is starting to trust you...which is key with someone with low self-esteem so don't break it for any reason
