Also an interesting quote they tossed in:

"South Carolina won the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship in 2010 and 2011 at the College World Series. South Carolina has 11 College World Series appearances, including six in the last 12 years. South Carolina is the only school with 200 or more wins in the last four years (2010 to the present) with a 201-70 record, and the Gamecocks own the second-highest win total in the nation in the last 14 years (2000 to the present) with a 669-271 record. South Carolina is one of five schools to appear in the NCAA Regional every season in the last 14 years, including 11 NCAA Super Regional appearances in that span, one of only two schools to accomplish the feat."

4 Player Trade before G1 in G&B WS:

quote:

@GamecockBasebll
There was a 4 player trade before Garnet and Black World Series. Schrock and Williams now on Black. Gore and Roberts now on Garnet.

Breakdown from John Whittle on TBS: LINK

quote:

INJURY NEWS -
Junior Connor Bright suffered a slight concussion on Monday when he was hit in the back of the head with a pitch. He could play at some point on the weekend but it’s unlikely. …

Freshman Zack Madden has some arm soreness but he too could play at some point during the weekend. …

Freshman Brock Maxwell had surgery to remove a piece of broken bone from his wrist. He’s out the rest of the fall. …

Junior Jordan Montgomery is not injured but he is not at a place in his preseason throwing program that will allow him to pitch in a game. ….

Senior Forrest Koumas had Tommy John surgery in the summer and will miss the 2014 season.

PROJECTED LINEUPS
GARNET: CF English; 2B Gore; C Greiner; 1B Martin; 3B Caldwell; DH Roberts; SS Mooney; LF Pike; RF Paulsen

BLACK: CF Cone; 3B Williams; 2B Schrock; LF Pankake; DH Widener; 1B Celek; SS Arendas; RF Harrington; C Koch

quote:

PROJECTED ROTATION
GARNET: LHP Jack Wynkoop; RHP Joel Seddon; LHP Josh Reagan

BLACK: LHP Vince Fiori; RHP Wil Crowe; RHP Evan Beal

quote:

WHITTLE’S PROJECTION: When the rosters were first released, I had Garnet winning 3-0. Schrock and Williams flipped to Black with Gore moving over to Garnet, which was a big boost. Also, Montgomery is not going to pitch, which puts a big question mark on the Garnet starting staff.

It’s going to be a really good series now and could go either way. I certainly don’t envision a sweep on either side. After going back and forth and thinking Black 2-1, I’m headed back to the other side. Garnet wins the series 2-1 because they’re older and have more options in the bullpen. Wynkoop has to win on Friday for it to happen but Garnet wins the series and Black is doing some cleaning.
