Bottom line South Carolina-Mizzou is pretty much a divisional playoff game

Mizzou has suddenly gotten a 2 game lead in the East and that's nice, but it doesn't mean a hell of a lot when you are playing one of the teams you are up 2 games on head to head. Mizzou loses this game, then it's only a 1 game lead on South Carolina with *no* margin for error cuz now UCSe has the tiebreaker. And between a road trip to Ole Miss and playing JFF at home in our final game, its more than reasonable to assume Mizzou could and will lose at least one more game in there. In which case, with SC holding tiebreaker over us, our only hope would be to pray for Georgia or Florida or both to finish out doing some crazy shite to force a 3 way tie scenario and see how it would all play out. Not the spot you want to be in.

Really then, for all the talk of a "commanding" lead for Missouri in the Division, it is in fact anything but. It's just a one game playoff scenario. And while Mauk our redshirt freshman QB was impressive in his debut against Florida, there were moments when it was clear that when pressured under a heavy pass rush he looks shaky and made some bad decisions. Enter Clowney and the rest of the SC defense. They have the opportunity here, just one game, to stake their own claim to the division. Because win, and I'm telling you, the Cocks are in a very very good position (that's what she said). If the Cocks lose though, Mizzou will likely have a 3 game lead (either literally or via having the tiebreaker) on everyone else in the division, which would require a truly epic and pretty unlikely collapse by Mizzou down the stretch in order to be undone. Saturday is for all the marbles, period.

I think Mizzou will have trouble with OM and A&M.

Agree, which is what adds to the stakes of this weekend. Beat South Carolina and those games are probably gonna be meaningless to the Division Race even though they still impact our season. But if we lose to South Carolina we put ourselves in a spot where in order to be completely safe we probably need to run the table for the rest of our schedule including needing to win *both* at Ole Miss and at home vs TAMU...and that's a tall order for any team not named Bama.

Mizzou's D is too much for OM and Mizzou's O is too much for A&M. Still, upsets happen.

Completely agree with you. This game against USCe is HUGE! Mizzou needs to win to stay in drivers's seat. Exciting season for the ZOU.

ONE game at at time! Respect all, fear none!

Mizzou....RAH!

This game will tell us if Mizzou is for real or just a pretender. Taking advantage of 2 beat up teams isn't spectacular.

South Carolina is the ultimate troll team - you never know which side is going to show up.

Regardless, Missourah should win. USCe has a puncher's chance, however.

We are trying to win the east while still losing as many games as possible. We truly want to back into the championship.....

Neither. I said the same thing before the UF game, and will say it again after SC.

ISWYDT

This is a really important game. I like our chances at home, in a nighttime Homecoming game. Feels a little like Oklahoma 2010. Hope the team stays focused. USCe has a good team, and anything is possible.

The main thing is don't let Clowney pull a Michigan bowl game-esque mauler hit on Mauk and ring his bell, so that we suddenly either have Berk out there doing what he does or are burning Printz's redshirt and hoping a true freshman knows what the hell he's doing. I know Florida's defense is very very good so we should be used to it, but singular talent guys like Clowney can sometimes take over games and hurt people at will. See Jarvis Jones vs Mizzou last year...
