That honor actually belongs to 2003 LSU.

If we're going by best season, you can drop everyone who lost a game down to the bottom. If we're going by who would win a head to head matchup, totally different story.

I'm biased, admittedly, but I think Auburn 2010 vs Bama 2011 would be the best matchup. Bama would probably be favored, but Auburn had the intangibles that year. Would not lose.

98 UT, 06 FLA, and 07 LSU are back of the pack IMO, people remember the NC game against OSU for 2006 FLA and forget how much they struggled in the regular season at times. 2007 LSU lost two games, don't care if they're overtime, and struggled with others as well. Neither team featured a transcendent player like Newton who'd give the edge in a one-game hypothetical matchup.

I'd stick 2010 Auburn, 2011 Bama, 2003 LSU, 2008 Florida in the top 4, and call it about a 50-50 shot for each team against the others.

2003 LSU was top heavy. Their overall opponent winning % wasn't all that impressive.
