Agree with the thought that 2010 Auburn belongs in the lower part of the list. That teams was a hair's breath away from losing 4-5 games that year. Outside the beatdown on SC in the SEC championship, they were not a dominating team that year.

So a hair's breath away from losing 4-5 games is worse than actually losing 1 or 2, huh?

Bama 2011- played two good teams that year in Ark and LSU. Lost to LSU at home and did not even win their division. Had six weeks to prepare for a rematch game to win the BCSNC.

Bama 2012- played two good teams that year in LSU and TX A&M. Lost to A&M at home when they were a double-digit favorite. Had 6 weeks to prepare for an overhyped ND team. (ARK, TN, AU had their worse teams in their history)

What other team on the list had to play .500 ball againt good competition and still got to play for a NC?
