Y'alls thoughts on the game day atmosphere at Davis Wade?

Every week, I find myself constantly complaining about all the gimmicky bullshite on the jumbotron during the games. While I don't think the music is that bad, the freaking videos/commercials are turrible, and they are always played at the most inopportune times.
I haven't seen much complaining about it so I thought I was the only one, until I saw this article linked on Twitter.
What are y'alls thoughts?

It's awful. I linked to an article earlier this season where they said they were improving the atmosphere. I thought it meant they "got it" about the commercials and how distracting/bad they were. Little did I know the "improvements" were all the extra kiddie shite they were adding.
I still point to the 2010 Arkansas game as the best Davis-Wade atmosphere I have ever been in. I even talked to Arkansas fans that were absolutely blown away, as well.
What worked? Rap & dance music. There was something about "All I do is win" and all of the cowbells clanging in a synchronous manner that raised my hairs and got my nipples hard.
Scott probably heard some old farts complain about the music, and it's never been the same since.
frick you, Scott. How dare you make us watch that god awful harlem shake video TWICE during the LSU game.

For one thing, our fans, as a whole, are complete idiots. Who yells while their team is on offense? I noticed that ole miss does this too. I don't know what the answer to the atmosphere question is. One thing I do know is that two or three years ago, the year we played Kentucky and Georgia and Mullen gave the cowbell speech before both games, that was the most involved our fans have ever been. It might not have been as loud at times as the loudest we have ever been but it was the most involved that our fanbase has been for an entire game. The bells would stop at the same time and everyone made an effort together to yell when we were on defense, and it was beautiful. I don't know what happened to that fanbase. As far as the videos go, they are definitely a distraction and half of them piss me off because they ruin so much momentum. At the same time, those ads were in existence in the past when the atmosphere was much better. So I don't know what the answer is there.

That fricking Mercedes commercial is literally worse than the Holocaust.

Which commercial had the multiple costume wearing characters dancing inside the indoor practice facility?

I love that shite too.
I think more rap/dance music would definitely help.

Last week when we went for it on 4th and 3 towards the end of the game, our band was playing during the timeout, during the play call and during the snap and play. I was livid.

This is all true. I thought the speeches were too played out, but they did work. People used to scream at the top of their lungs on every big play. I can't remember the last time I saw that.

Maybe they weren't as long? Maybe we didn't play terrible music during them? All the "whip my hair" "kiss cam" videos with terrible music is terrible. Also, every player on the sideline is looking up and watching these videos while they are on.

That's minor league baseball shite. I don't care if my mom has a good time at the game and neither do our players, ok Scott? What sucks is our players watch that stuff when they are supposed to be doing other things. It all takes too long. There's gotta be more time to play the pump up stuff and get the crowd back.

Exactly. When I'm sitting in Pearl watching a five hour baseball game and drinking beer, I need something like a tater tot running across the outfield chasing a slushie to keep me from falling asleep but not at a SEC football game.

If I was trying to produce the best game day atmosphere, I was mimic the best atmosphere in the county: Tiger Stadium IMO. I've been there 3-4 times, and I have never seen a video commercial. They sell ads. Ads don't distract the football team or the fans.
Companies would still pay.

I think this is the bottom line here. Just because we have a big arse tv doesn't mean we have to ruin our game with it to make money for the school. We can make just as much money I'm sure without doing all of that. But of course we aren't LSU and I don't know what I'm talking about.

Stating the obvious but it is the shitheads that tell the operators what they have to, can or cannot run on the board. Slip the operator some cash to run some stuff that is not approved. Tds and Beer's avi would be a good start.

God it's so awful. It's almost like we ask ourselves, what would make a 70 year old man and a 4 year old girl enjoy today's game?
When's the last time we actually played rap music? When we do play it, it is turned down so low you can barely hear it and there are no lyrics. I almost feel like I am at a private christian high school academy that is afraid to play music with cussing in it for fear of what someone's grandfather will say.
A couple games this year I have actually had the opportunity to sit in the club level and sky box and to hear what these old men are saying is ridiculous (Turn that damn music down, being the most prominent). I'm sure this is what Striklin is hearing, but he needs to nut up and tell them to get over it.

Yeah I used to bitch because we didn't use the band enough and played too much rap. Boy was I wrong.

I think rap would be the best option, but I don't even think rap is a must. When the other team has the ball and it's 3rd and 10, Hells Bells, Thunderstruck, or other cliche songs would be 1,000,000 times better than a shitty commercial or a tater tot rolling around on the field.

Easily the best. It was a great game, the crowd was into it, they did good stuff to keep people involved, and better yet, they did very little stupid stuff to deflate the crowd.

I know you are way too familiar with the Bullock Toyota commercial. The gal and the guy take turns talking. When it gets to be the guys turn, he starts doing weird shite with his hands. Well, at the last game, my g/f and I were watching the commercial, and she said, "It is probably just a coincidence, but he came up with that move shortly after his wife got her implants."

I completely agree with the article linked and everything said in here.
***Stricklin***
Please improve this situation.
If I want to be distracted during tv timeouts I'll stay at the fricking house.
Stop distracting our players and killing momentum by playing this loud arse bush league bullshite.
