Alabama is a better job than Texas
I'd disagree. They're both two of the best jobs in college football, but I see Texas as having a slight advantage.
The current state of the Longhorn's program doesn't support this argument. But, I believe if Saban had been given the choice of Texas or Bama when he left Miami, I'd bet that he would of taken Texas.
Everything is about recruiting and, regardless of the wave that A&M is on right now, Texas just has to right it's ship, adjust it's recruiting process away from locking in kids on Jr. Day and it wouldn't take long till the best players in Tx. will be looking at Austin first to make their decision.
Money and people are no problem at Texas. Not a big problem at Alabama either but if I was to bet on a pissing contest between the two, then I'd bet Texas could piss further.

It would have come down to who would have given him more control. Mal Moore was a desperate man in 2006. UT had and still has so much politics and baggage to put up with.

Even with the assumed recruiting advantage, the entire state of Texas has only won 1 NC since 1970. Compare that to Florida, Alabama, or LA. Oklahoma takes who they want and they win titles and own the Horns. The best recruits are in the deep south, and Saban is tearing it up right now.
