At some point, you've got to just let them get after it and trust their instincts... guys you recruited for a reason.
He doesn't have to be captain, but if he's the best guy for the position, you've got to get him in there and let someone else call the assignments.

The front 7 are good but we've taken a big step back IMO in that group compared to what we've seen the last 5-6 years.
They're weakest up the middle and not nearly as dominant along the front four as we've been. I think secondary run support is a little weaker as well.
A decent unit but I think the over/under is about right in this one and is the highest I can remember in recent memory for an LSU game. There's a reason for that.

I actually agree but I don't think Chavis does yet. He may do that after this game because after this one the new guys will have experienced peeing on themselves once or twice and should be ready for the grind at MSU next week...
Oh yeah, meant to add that if you are looking for LSU's weaknesses it is being swept by speedy frickers and poor safety play. When the corners look like they were burned it turned out that the safeties gave them no support over the top. Vulnerable to the long throw.

Chavis runs a pretty complex defense and he needs someone to make the checks on the field. Right now he is putting more weight in that than talent in Welter's case. I am not one to question the Chief's decisions especially when it comes to LBers.
