What the frick are they thinking up there? They get progressively worse every year. If you suck thats one thing but to consistently bring attention to your sucking is way worse. My eyes Jesus, the uni's they wear look like some low end Arena Football League. Matter of fact it reminds me of the uni's the teams in Any Given Sunday would wearing.

I know for a fact that is a Maryland administration propagated issue forced upon Under Armour founder and CEO and founder Kevin Plank ... who happens to be a Maryland letterman.
I agree though, it's over the top but most of their alumni love the uniforms. They refer to the unis as the "Maryland Pride Uniforms" and they are big sellers among their fans - huge as a matter of fact.
Those unis also sport what they refer to as "no-grab" technology, among other things.
The players love them too, so don't expect to see any changes anytime soon.
The school itself has profited from the buzz created with these latest unis, not to mention the buzz they've garnered the past couple of years from the other unis.
FWIW, we'll be getting the no-grab fabric on our unis soon.

How long before the NCAA outlaws them -- as they did with the old tearaway jerseys?

These are the only opinions that count, IMO. If the fans and players like them then it really doesn't matter if everyone else doesn't.
Rock on, you colorful bastards!!

Two different animals all together.
No-grab technology can be argued as an injury prohibitive as quickly as it might be an unfair advantage.
I'm not completely sure how it works. I heard about it first after the UNC game. I think it has more to do with it being tighter and less stretchy than it does being slick.
We could have had it already but we wanted to let Maryland be the guinea pigs. It's coming though because we have experienced some rampant jersey rippage already this year that has been a major pain in the arse for our equipment department ... actually having to sew/repair jerseys on the sideline by hand at times.
