Wow, we came out like a cannon. That was the best our offense has ever looked during that 1st half. We were 8 of 9 on 3rd down conversions before halftime.

We let Vandy score a lot of 2nd half points, but 15 of them came off of bad special team plays and their only TD of the first half came off an interception. Our defense played really well.

Final Stats

QB's completed 74% of their passes, and had 359 yards of passing, hell yeah!

We avg'd 4.5 yards per carry.

10 different receivers had receptions, including Dylan's where he passed to himself.

Special Teams sucked in general.

We converted 11/17 3rd downs, Vandy converted 2/12.

Our OL did AWESOME!! We allowed 4 TFL's, but 0 Sacks.

Our Defense earned 8 TFL's and 4 Sacks.
Jimmy Legree stepped up HUGE, 7 tackles, 2 TFL's and the INT in the endzone.
Clowney had 4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack and 1 Forced Fumble.
Quarles had 2 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 Fumble Recovery, and 2 QB Hurries.

Clowney said his foot still hurts.

Mike Davis said his ankle is fine in the post game.

Post-game presser was great. Came in expecting they would be upset, instead the coaches and players seemed to be in a good mood. Davis and Ellington are funny. Couple of players called out student section, as they should--it was pathetic tonight. Many reiterated that the bye week is coming at the perfect time.

We'll have 3 weeks to get ready for another SEC team and to teach the young LB's and DB's to disguise coverages, which is exactly what they need to do better.

Special teams are terrible. We don't ever need to run another kick out of the endzone this year.

Anyone who says Thompson should start needs to be shot. And I wouldn't mind seeing him ride the bench the rest of the season unless Shaw gets injured.

Really liked the two back sets we were running tonight. I've always preferred we run them with a TE instead of a fullback but thought we looked great with both Davis and Wilds back there

Now that I can't get into the student section seeing all the empty seats infuriated me. They need to give some to recent alums who will gladly stay the entire game.

I guess I'll feel better about the game as time passes, or I'll forget some of what frustrated me about it, either way.

They say the end of the season, or where you finished ranked as opposed to where you start, or the last game you play leaves the biggest impressions on you: I guess how you finish games as opposed how you start also does the same for me.

Vanderbilt gained 95 total yds and scored 10 pts in the first half....they gain almost twice that (173 yds) and score 15 pts in 2nd half. Those 10 1st half pts came in the final 3 minutes of the half, so it seemed to me that Vandy either turned up their play towards the end, or we let them turn up. We only score 14 pts in the final 3 qtrs, so we are out-scored 25-14 after the 1st qtr. The STs gaffes and foolish penalties bugged me.

Overall however it was a solid win at home. Shaw and Davis played outstanding, and Ellington had a career receiving game. Special teams has been a struggle for Coach Robinson all off-season: at least he seems to be finding answers in the kicking games with Fish, Ard, and Hull, but there's still inconsistency in the return game. Hopefully we'll see improvements as the season progresses, but we still have a lot of work to do in many areas of the team.

Central Florida just beat Penn State in their stadium: we better work our butts off these next 2 weeks preparing, or we will get embarrassed...

They were awesome....they are developing into possibly the best OL yet to play for Spurrier at USC. I didn't realize that Vanderbilt came into our game leading the SEC with 8 sacks through the first 2 games. Goose eggs for them tonight...

Yes, I should've written that point in my post above, that's why I thought they did awesome, Vandy had been getting to the QB in the previous games.

I felt like we took our foot off the gas pedal immediately following the DT interception when the Vandy guy ran it back to the two. And that was frustrating to me. It was a piss poor pass by Thompson - he should not have thrown that ball.

54 yard FG to end the half frustrated me.

Special Teams frustrated the helloutta me.

We should not run another kick out of the endzone.

Penn State has not yet recovered from their penalties and problems ... I picked them to lose that game on TigerRant. We're a far better team than Penn State. But I agree, we'd better be ready to play in Orlando because they are going to be gunning for the upset over a SEC Team and their crowd is into it now - they'll pack that stadium for our game. Thankfully we have some very recent experience on that field in that stadium.

I agree that we took our foot off the gas (or Vandy used it as a wakeup call, whichever...), but that wasn't that bad of a pass, honestly, watching the replay. That DB made an insane play to cut off his coverage and come back for that ball. He had some kind of sixth football sense to know that the ball wasn't coming to his guy and to hang a U-turn to get in position to make that play.

I don't know that I would throw DT out for making that throw.

Or he watched Thompson stare down Ellington

That's what I mean, though. His back was to the QB the whole time and then he reversed his field on a whim? Brilliant play, IMO.
