They didn't nearly win. They would had to score a TD to tie and stop Auburn from even getting a FG and score again to win at the end of the game. We had the ball last. Our defense was also missing 3 of our starters for that game including our top 2 players. USC's D may have shut them down on the score board but they still passed for 250+ yards and they shut USC down. We scored 24 more points on them than USC could.

As for state they gave up 21 points to the only good team they played and got held to 3 points. Auburn's defense is ranked about where OSU's is after playing better offenses. MSU also gave up nearly 300 yards rushing to them and Auburn's running game is as good or better.

States offense vs Auburn's defense is pretty much a draw. They gave up 10 TFL to OSU and have no game breakers. The game will come down to their D vs our O. Mainly them stopping Auburn's running game and I don't see it happening. Marshall isn't great but he is completing 55% of his passes and hasn't thrown an INT or been sacked. He is good enough to keep them honest passing and running off the end if they stack the box.
