I agree in principal with everything you just stated. Unfortunately it will never happen. TO much money the universities will lose with the Title IX and loss of NPO. couple that with only about the top 20ish college moneymakers even being able to support this will kill the proposition, IMO. I do think they should be more lenient with how much a student can earn though.
I would support having paychecks come through the university, i.e. if a student athelete has a job the checks are deposited in a university account held by the student, for immediate withdraw at the students discretion. Or have them work for the university at a set pay scale, open to all athletics, like a work/study/play program.
