Unlike some other schools, however, MSU flies only pure jets, a brace of Beechjets, to be exact. MSU of course has all kinds of other aircraft as well. Probably more painted in university colors than any other SEC school thanks to Raspet Flight Laboratory.

Those dont look like AD jets, FWIW. there is a difference

Oh definitely, because Mullen doesn't fly on them all the time.

The school dropping $4.5 million on a 6 year old out of date plane that will require constant maintenance or the school that has unlimited access to 2 state of the art jets essentially for free?

A Lear 40, out of date? Old? You know nothing, John Snow!

I know how it works. I'm retired Air Force.

My point is that the $4.5 million price tag doesn't stop there. Arky will have a pretty hefty monthly bill for upkeep. Meanwhile, LSU has to shell out $0 per month for maintenance and still has unlimited access to 2 state of the art 2012 Bombardier Learjet 75s.

Oh dear. Guess you don't know enough to realize that not a single Lear 75 has been delivered yet?

It varies but generally if you fly more than 250 hours per year it's cheaper to own (and run a flight department) than to charter or buy shares in a plane like NetJets and other companies offer. Charters are expensive and management programs have enormous monthly costs that have to be paid regardless of whether you fly or not.
