You have admitted a lot of outside posters recently. Some with little input from the rest of the board. Im just seeking some clarification on why the push to add so many new posters?

Is this directed from Chicken? Is having the team boards exclusive being phased out?

Because we, the veteran Mizzou posters, aren't doing our job to be active on our own board. Essentially, the Mizzou Board has become bored.

Therefore, adding a few fans from other schools is an attempt to add life to this dying board.

The new posters input thread is locked. And new posters are being added without the democratic process.

It seems Semo has gone Dictator on us.

My thoughts. each poster who requests access should have a thread of their own. Only votes cast within that thread have any bearing. Voting needs to be left open a minimum of 5 days, maybe 7 days to give everyone a chance to see the new thread. 2/3 votes in favor needed to approve access. It should keep it neat and clean because I think all of those OM posters had been brought up and mentioned in a previous thread, and it's probably been about a week ago, but I can also see how it could have gotten buried by the other threads and/or because the thread title didn't specifically reference anyone.

My personal opinions again at this point, is that there's enough Arky(other than Meat), OM, Bama(I think we have a couple/few) and there might be others. I can't remember.

Just my worthless two cents.

That is perfectly good reasoning for adding new posters. However, I'm not sure how that is a direct response to Kilo's concern.

True. Plus it'll be good for other SEC fans to ask questions about Mizzou or anything related to the state. Hell I still need to learn more about Mizzou athletics and I've lived in this state for over 10yrs.

When I became admin, there was a backlog of people who had been voted on. We added some of them, realized we'd missed some, and added more. With the additions, more people expressed interest, and I'm attempting to keep up with this interest by responding quickly.

There is no directive from Chicken to move away from team board exclusivity. There is, however a goal to get the boards more active.

I get that kills. Its also the offseason and a lot of boards are quiet. We were right in the upper middle in activity during the season last year when compared to the other boards.

I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining but this was a unique set up in that we were limited to mostly Missouri posters. The only other boards like that are the pay boards. I don't mind a little input from outside the fanbase, it even grown on me but to just add others because things are slow in the off season seems like an overreaction.

That was kind of my thoughts originally as well. Being the new kids on the block, I thought it would be good for other fan bases to get to know us outside of the flaming and trolling as well and maybe learn something about the school, that state, and the team.

What about this kilo? Once someone from one school is admitted, no one else from that school can be admitted until 1 from the other 12 schools is admitted. That should slow it down because I don't think we have UF or Vandy fans knocking down our doors.

Reedus makes some good points. I'm going to add to them.

How about this for a procedure going forward? Anyone who desires access to post on our board needs to make the request on the Help Board thread, and have at least 1 sponsor from our fan base. That sponsor will start a thread for that individual. That thread needs to contain a link to the poster's profile and a reason why they wish access to our board. If a poster can't find someone to sponsor them, they either don't know our posters well enough, or the record speaks for itself.

That thread will remain active for 5 days. At the end of that time, the poster will be given access or not, and I will delete the thread.

In addition, we need to have a dialogue about the way we, collectively, want to see our board operate and grow. I'm working on something here, and ask for your patience.

Just a suggestion...

Would there be a way to lock certain threads? Keep the outsiders out, creating a place that is just for MU fans? I guess that defeats the purpose.. just a thought.

Well, Kilo, if I were a Deputy Admin to Semo's Head Admin in Charge, I can assure you that I'd have zero patience with non-Mizzou posters who abused their posting privileges. They'd receive the ban hammer faster than a virgin's first nut job.

Am I knighting for that job...sure.

I guess I was a fan of the set up we had. It was nice to have a place for Mizzou fans exclusively with a few exceptions of really knowledgable posters from other fan bases. Having folks give insights on recruiting and other SEC things would be perfect but the outside count now has to be over 20+ and growing.

I agree with kills that growth of the board would be great but I feel like it should come from promoting this forum inside the fanbase. There is plenty of untapped potential there if folks could see this forum outside of the stigmas that the SECr carries for trolling etc especially with what Semo has said about having original content and bloggers.

I know some of you probably think I'm just being a cranky stick in the mud and a thorough pain in the arse but I really liked what we had. With the addition of the SECrOT and having the SECr I thought and felt that this set up was perfect where we could focus as a fanbase here and have casual social interactions on the OT with other fanbases and let the SECr be what it is.

Reedus, there are only a very few posters from those schools. And outside of Kentucky for basketball, I'm not sure there would be much discussion there.

Killz, you should just go buy a play police badge at a toy store and pin it on your shirt anytime you're posting.

Kilo, I don't think you're being a cranky stick in the mud at all. Part of our problem here is that we don't have enough activity from Missouri fans. In fact, there are some Mizzou fans on this site who rarely, if ever, post on this board.

Growth and activity/volume are two different things, but they go hand in hand a bit. The way I see it, we need three things: 1.Increase activity from existing Mizzou posters; 2)Increase the number of Mizzou posters - organic recruitment; and 3)inclusive growth - building bridges with other fan bases.

Organic recruitment, inclusive growth.. ahhhh am I in a board room full of investors or am I on a sports forum.

You're on a sports forum! That is free, and makes its money through high levels of activity, which drive ad sales.

And these are my terms, not Chicken's. Most of y'all know I'm a marketing/PR person, and have a background in strategic planning. It's my nature to look at something, start dissecting it, and then look for how to make it grow and shine.

Yeah, was kinda the point. That might effectively lock our doors if we had to get a Vandy poster here.
