That's a very good question. One element that may be at play here is Uncle Nate. I read where he has a family member who is a big-time event promoter, and could provide Johnny with free tickets because he had an established relationship with him that predated his NCAA playing days. That relationship kept it from being an impermissible benefit. Now, was that the case for all the places he showed up? No way.

Dunno. I mean, I grew up in Dallas and one of my friend's moms was a producer for Barney the Dinosaur. He would get us back stage passes to whatever random shitty high school music we liked because the touring company was the same. There aren't that many companies capable of touring all around the country, if you have an in with one, it doesn't seem that farfetched, imo. I mean I think he's guilty as frick over the signature things, but the "promoter relationship" thing might not be as much of a stretch as you think.
