So gamecockcentral has reported that the scrimmage today was kinda rough. Connor Mitch did not participate because of an illness. Landon Ard also did not participate because of a groin injury and we went 0-6 on field goals. The positives are that OBC said the offense did have the upper hand on the defense and he didn't think that they punted at all. Also said connor shaw was not his usual self today and thinks that maybe his back was stiff. Neither Clowney or Ellington participated due to injury should have a full report out soon that was just the quick hits.

I think this first scrimmage was mostly for the younger guys, as many regular starters did not play or did not play many snaps. Ward stated that Clowney wasn't expected to play anyway regardless of his injury, which was a slight shoulder bruise.

Here are the scrimmage stats:

SCORING PLAYS:

Nick St. Germain 36-yard field goal

Dylan Thompson 1-yard run (St. Germain kick)

Shon Carson 15-yard run (St. Germain kick no good)

Shaq Roland 55-yard pass from Perry Orth (Elliott Fry kick)

PASSING:

Dylan Thompson 5-7-0-74; Perry Orth 2-2-0-68, 1 TD; Connor Shaw 3-10-1-27; Brendan Nosovitch 2-4-0-5. TOTALS: 12-23-1-174, 1 TD.

RUSHING:

Brandon Wilds 5-34; Mike Davis 4-27; Shon Carson 4-25, 1 TD; David Williams 3-25; Dylan Thompson 2-6, 1 TD; Connor Shaw 1-7; Jamari Smith 1-6; Perry Orth 1-0. TOTALS: 21-130, 2 TD.

RECEIVING:

Brandon Wilds 2-18; Shaq Roland 1-55, 1 TD; Shamier Jeffery 1-31; Jody Fuller 1-20; Kwinton Smith 1-13; Jamari Smith 1-13; Jerell Adams 1-9; Shon Carson 1-5; David Williams 1-5; Carlton Heard 1-4; Jeff Homad 1-1. TOTALS: 12-174, 1 TD.

Official Scrimmage Recap and Stats

Spurrier said the INT Shaw threw was a read and intercept by T.J. Holloman, who stepped in the lane in front of the ball...

I expect the next scrimmage, our defense will respond and make it tougher for the offense...

Plays of 20 yds or more get me hard.

Roland's TD was not only a big play but majority of it was a run after catch, caught a 10 yard pass then took it home.
