They are thin at WR again this year, and they are really thin on the OL and DL. They are counting on a lot of incoming freshmen to help in the 2 deep.

They started practicing with pads on yesterday.

One of their better WR's and return guys from '11 is back now after missing last season, TJ Thorpe.

The tarholes have spent a lot of effort in improving conditioning to run Fedora's faster transition paced offense.

Their most experienced Punt Returner, Roy Smith, is on a track scholarship and is not practicing with the team this summer. He will be there once the season starts though.

Day 1 Notes

Tarholes are using drones to film practice....

Don't drone me, bro

unc OG, Caleb Peterson will be starting his first game as a RS FR, along side Hurst (who they are hoping to matchup against Clowney.)

Peterson said that Hurst is a freak and really knows his body so they stretch together every night....

He also said that he's going to help Hurst block Clowney when he doesn't have anyone try to shoot a gap he's responsible for.

Their OL is replacing 3 starters from last year.

Notes about their Depth Chart:
https://northcarolina.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp

QB - Renner is going into his 3rd season as the starter. He knows what Fedora wants for the up tempo offense. They will not huddle often. Crowd noise could f**k up everything they try to do offensively, or force them into a Murray "tap," situation.

RB - Gio is gone. AJ Blue is a bigger upperclassmen RB who has trimmed down to help with his speed. Romar Morris is their Scat Back who will run the Gio-like speed check-down or option plays. Last year the unc RB's had over 68 receptions, they effectively use check-downs, it was actually over 20% of their completions on the season. (Renner had 276 completions.)

WR - Davis, Tapley and Thorpe are proven WR's. Then they will be counting on Freshmen like Switzer.

Fedora said he wants to get Davis 100 receptions this year.

TE - Ebron and Tabb return to the 2 deep for them. They represent 52 completions and 5 TD's from last year.

OL - Returning starters LT, Hurst and their C, Bodine can play ball. Their whole 2 deep at OL are big 300ish pounders. The RS freshman OG, Peterson, will be going against Quarles for his first game and is supposed to help block Clowney.

SpecT/Ret - Thomas Moore is a new kicker for them. Roy Smith is a track guy punt returner and Thorpe led the ACC in '11 before his injury.

DL - DE Kareem Martin, he can play ball. They run a 3-3-5 defense, with hybrid DE/LB's. Their DL is a strength for them. They were a Top 5 team for TFL's last year and 24th in Sacks. This is going to be a good DL we go against.

LB - Mike, WIll, BAN, RAM, for those 4 spots they are returning 3 guys from the 2 Deep. So they are inexperienced at LB just like us. Tommy Heffernan is returning for them at Will.

They disguise their pressures really well. They might put 5 on the DL, but only rush 4 with one of their DE's dropping into coverage and overload one side.

DB - All 5 returning starters from last year are back, and 4of5 are upperclassmen. Although, they were ranked 81st last year for Pass Defense, but were 38th for Pass Efficiency Defense.

Yes, he was like a Gary Gray and committed for a while, then left at the last moment. He committed in November of '08 and then decommitted on Signing Day of '10.

He knew we were recruiting 1 more WR, and the week before he decommitted, Ace Sanders committed. I think though that he was threatened by Ace, who was a 4 * prospect, and left. Tapley was a 3* guy.

Did any of y'all see the interview Spurrier gave a couple weeks ago where he was talking about recruits who had burnt him in the past? He said he had one guy who had told him and the coaches all along that he was coming to USC and then switched on Signing Day. It was Tapley that he was referring to.
