Totally agree. In the SEC, the only university that is going to stand out on a resume when applying to a nationally competitive job is Vandy. The rest are just state schools with a reputation for great football, hot girls, and top 25 party rankings. No one is getting hired in New York or Chicago primarily because their resume says Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, etc...

This is spot on IMO. Once you decide to go to an SEC school, you pretty much should commit to staying in the south

I got hired straight to Wall Street in NYC out of undergrad. I know what you're saying though, I'm definitely an outlier but it's not as difficult as you would think. You just need to be good and get an opportunity.

ETA: Nevermind I see you were talking about the prestige of the university name. Yea, completely agree.
