no it wasn't.

Considering they were hitting that way, playing that way for extra $$$ they were, in fact, illegal plays.

Not according to the refs.

The Saints were one of the least penalized teams for Unnecessary Roughness in the league, and actually hurt less opposing players than almost every other team.

Warner and Favre, the two players that were shown over and over again being hit by the Saints as dirty hits, even admitted the hits being shown were not dirty.
