Any chance he sees the big league this year?

Da fuq?

Maybe I'm missing the sarcasm, but I don't know if he ever sees the big leagues, much less this year.

Just a question, didn't know if they had needs in OF. He got a signing bonus of 2.68 mil I don't think they're gonna let him rot in the minors.

Me thinks you don't know much about the minor league system.

If he completely tears it up, he could see the majors next year.

Honestly, I thought you were being a smart arse. Sorry.

I honestly don't have a clue who their OFs are, but I don't think it really matters. They are better than him at this point, and it's safe to assume that 3-4 other OFs in their organization are too. He's got a long way to go before he gets up, if ever.

Off the top of my head, Zunino, Gausman, Posey are the only ones that I can remember who have recently fast-tracked (~1 year) to the MLB.

Short Season A

It's one step below A, but it's above their two rookie leagues. Most, if not all, of the high school and undeveloped college draftees, start out in a rookie league.

Aside from Frazier who went to Short Season A, all of our draft picks went to Rookie Ball.

Dang that's nuts. So every time has a AAA, AA, and A, then short season A, then two rookie leagues?

It's just incredible that there is this much development in this game. It makes me wonder how they make any money at all..then you have the yankees that just hand select their players from other MLB teams. Incredible

Well, I counted the Dominican Summer League in as a Rookie League, so that may be a bit misleading. To be fair, I guess I should just say one rookie league. Either way, it's damn near impossible to get to the top.

FWIW, in 2012, ESPN ranked the Padres' farm system #1 in the MLB.

Good info here -- but I'd call Short-Season A somewhere between low A and high A... since alot of the players that perform well there go straight into high A...

Renfroe will take time getting through the minors. He's still very raw and needs alot of fundamental baseball to be taught to him -- little things like baserunning and outfield footwork, getting jumps, etc. He's got to do a better job with his pitch recognition as well(compared to how he ended the year anyway)...

Damn, I forgot to include Advanced A. Good point.

Agree with every bit of this.

Yep def more raw than Zunino, Gausman, and other former college players. I think it will take him 2 years. Of course he will be in rookie league, then I think high A, AA, and then he should go to bigs.
