I posted this on another site I'm a member of, but it's severely lacking in OM Fans (there's about 3 of us), so I figured I'd share it here, too.
MASH
Scouting report on Moncrief for the 2014 Draft. I know it's looking ahead a good ways, but I just came across this and it got me thinking about it.
Donte could very well play himself into a 1st/2nd round pick in 2014. If he does that, does he stay? Do we want him to stay? Obviously having his talent around for one more year would be beneficial, but putting players into the NFL early is always a good selling point for recruiting.
I, personally (selfishly), would want him to stick around. Here's why:
In 2014:
Seniors
- QB Bo Wallace, WR Donte Moncrief, WR Vince Sanders, LG Aaron Morris, DE C.J. Johnson, DT Lavon Hooks, FS Cody Prewitt, CB Senquez Golson, LB D.T. Shackleford (if granted Medical Redshirt)
Juniors
- LB Denzel Nkemdiche, DE Channing Ward, RB Jaylen Walton, RB I'Tavius Mathers, SS Trae Elston, DT Issac Gross, CB Mike Hilton
Sophomores
- DE Robert Nkemdiche, WR Laquon Treadwell, WR Quincy Adeboyjo, RB Mark Dodson Jr., LT Laremy Tunsil, RT Austin Golson, SS Antonio Conner, SS Anthony Alford (Redshirt), TE A.J. Jackson, TE Christian Morgan - along with Kailo Moore and Jordan Wilkins where ever they end up playing (I've heard D somewhere).
Those are just the guys that have had solid to stellar performance until now. We've got a couple redshirts (DE Carlos Thompson, OL Robert Conyers) that are primed to have good/great years, along with some position moves (CB Carlos Davis for one) that made waves in the Spring. I can't look at that talent and not think 2014 could be special, but I think a senior Moncrief would be one of the keys to an offense that could be fricking deadly.
This is basically just me musing outside of my own head about 2014 and how nasty it could be and how I don't want Donte to go early.
Thoughts?

I want him back but I understand that if he has as good or better year than last year he might be projected high enough to leave. I'm going to enjoy him while he's here though

I would be pretty shocked if Moncrief was not a first round draft pick in 2014.

barring any unforeseen change in circumstances Moncrief will not be here this time next year.

He said he wanted to come back for his senior year but yeah i think the money will be to much too turn down. A first round draft pick might be a little bit of a stretch though.
It was a great article looks like someone actually did their homework. I wish someone like this was on ESPN instead of the soap-oprah bunch it has become.

Todd McShay has already said he is probably the best draft eligible receiver next year FWIW

He also pimped Snead a bit. McShay's a doofus.
That said, Moncrief's a first roundner.

Well to be fair Snead had all the physical tools to be great. I remember the sports science episode where they compared him to Drew Brees and shite
If you wanna chuckle
