I don't follow baseball recruiting very much, but he hasn't chosen a school yet. He graduated HS this year. Last time I checked we weren't even in his top 4 schools.

You should probably pose as a hot girl on twitter and hit on him.

We are definitely in his top few schools...This is from last week. That said, I wouldn't be shocked with anything he chose to do...

quote:

The schools still in the running for the first baseman are Oklahoma State, TCU, North Carolina and Mississippi State – in no particular order, he said after the all-star game. Two of those schools, UNC and Mississippi State, finished in the final eight of the NCAA tournament, punching tickets to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The outcome of the series could have a say in Palmeiro’s decision, he said, so he will most certainly wait until its conclusion to take his pick.

Thanks for the info

Last time I checked (which was awhile back) his top schools were LSU, UT, and FSU I think. Glad to see we got a good shot. Would be huge to pick up a solid third baseman.

Yeah, he would be a big get from a perception standpoint for sure. I think it was that article or maybe a different one that said he might get drafted as a first baseman, so I dunno what to expect as far as him playing on the hot corner in college. I'm pretty confident Reid Humphreys will be over there somewhere, maybe at SS...

Perfect Game has his primary position as 3B and secondary as OF. I'm not sure where our staff projects him though.

Yeah -- It's clear to me at this point that our staff won't put anyone in the outfield with anything less than tremendous wheels...Dunno that I necessarily agree with it -- but they are kinda above reproach right now...

Was a lot of talk about why they didn't trot Flair, Detz, or Norris out there when the LF position was struggling and/or while CT/Hunter were out...

I'd love to have a prototypical, at least gap power 3B though that can defend the position. I KNOW Humphreys can, but it's looking like he may end up at SS. If Palmeiro is a good defensive 3B, that could be a perfect setup on that side of the infield for the future...
