Imagine if all you had heard from other coaches and recruiters was that Ole Miss was racist, and then when you get there you're like "oh, shite, it's not any worse than any other SEC school." That's pretty much ever significant recruit we've had to fight for. As someone mentioned earlier, they ALWAYS say stuff like "it wasn't at all what I was expecting" when they're interviewed. It makes you wonder what exactly it was that they were expecting and why they were expecting it.
