Big announcement Friday?

It's not going to be the beautification project around the stadium I wouldn't think ... because that has been announced for some time and would be no great news. It's been understood for awhile.
Is it that 107.5 The Game outbid WVOC for the Gamecock Sports Property Radio Rights again? That would make sense, since it is them that are making the biggest deal outta this.
Could it be anything else?

Those are the only 2 I think are legitimate right now. Although I wouldn't consider either major news. So if 107.5 is saying it's major news, but no other news sources are setting it up that way, then I think it might involve 107.5.
I don't see any coaching changes coming up. I haven't heard of any NCAA infractions. If it was something as major as USC competing at a new varsity sport, we would have heard something by now b/c of the prep work associated with that.
I think some kind of renovation or media contract is a safe bet.

So it looks like it wasn't a "big announcement" it was just about the radio media rights going forward. It was "big" for 107.5 though, so that's probably why there were trying to break the news.

lulz ... how bad did Clear Channel screw-up letting that get away from them? All because they refused to put it on FM radio and Mike McGee said, okay then, frick y'all.
Mike McGee did more for the university than any AD in our history, including Paul Dietzel although Dietzel does not get enough credit for setting-us-up for entry into the SEC.

I can't listen in the mornings anymore.

Actually, what I found-out was that the two bids were very close and that Cumulus may have actually been short by about $75k out of a couple of million.
But Tanner and the BoTs decided to stick with 107.5 The Game - a loyalty factor plus they got the concession on the Women's basketball games.
Plus 107.5 proved they have the best coverage, strongest signal between the two FMs that bid it up (to almost double what it was four years ago, almost three times what it was when VOC let it get away in 2003.
I agree with CNB though, too many commercials, especially on that morning show. Plus I can't stand listening to Brent Johnson in the afternoon. He has to be the most egocentric person in radio in the state, if not this part of the country. I like Travis Haney though.
