Not going to get much for $20 million IMO. Good luck pulling a AA franchise with that price tag...

That is just what the bonds will be issued for. I would imagine the price tag will be in the 40-50 million range.

Agreed, that city and county has plenty of taxes rolling in, they certainly aren't hurting. That and there's still FEMA money floating around down there just waiting to be spent around that park.

FEMA money is gone, though if it was still around, couldn't be used for a baseball park.

21 million is coming from bonds. The cost was set at 35 million.
The only thing i see as a little crazy is putting it on a casino owned land and leasing it from them.
Google "Constellation Field". That stadium cost around 35 million as of 2 years ago to get an idea of what 35 million can buy.

But they could use it on infrastructure like road improvements, drainage, etc. around the park.

Not legally. FEMA money has to be used either for mitigation to prevent future damage in storms or for repairs to Katrina related damages.

Yeah that's why I said "around the park". From what I've heard (and no I'm not alluding to have "sources" or claim to really know anything about this subject) there is plenty of BP money in a fund that's just begging to be spent toward revitalizing the coast.

Now BP money could be used. I was just implying that FEMA money is pretty much gone and couldn't be used anyways.

$35 mil is a nice park. That is similar to new Alex Box, South Carolina, etc... and a tad nicer than Trustmark Park...

It'd be nice to possibly have a place in MS that could host the SECt if they ever decided to do so. Is that even remotely a possibility?

It would need to have a larger capacity. My problem is if you are going to build it that close to the water, might as well build it on the water.
You would have no problem with RV capacity or Hotel Capacity, it just needs to be built large enough.

Where are the Badgers coming from? :)
How about the Biloxi Sand Crabs. History there.

It won't border the water or be in view of the water if they build where they are proposing which is the current employees parking area for the Beau Rivage.
