re: ASB trying to get rid of Dixie Update: no vote Dixie to stay

I love the song Dixie and it would make me sad if it was taken away, mainly because I grew up listening to the band play it and it became more of an Ole Miss song to me than a southern or confederate song. That said, if it's taken away I won't put up a fight. I'm surprised that its made it this long honestly.


Sure, you can try to educate others on why it's not offensive or its true origins, but you'll just be fighting a losing battle. The perception is set in stone and just gets stronger each year. I just want what's good for the school, and eliminating such things might help to preserve "ole miss" and "rebels", which are the only things I am absolutely 100% against removing.
