He had to transfer because of grades.

Is he related to Donald Gray, the WR coming in this year from memphis? I think I remember seeing that somewhere. Anyone know if Gray has made a qualifying ACT? Last I heard he was one point shy on the one he took in the fall.
IMO, if he does make it to campus, he could be a guy that gets PT next year.

Good lord. The kid couldn't make an 18? Don't you get 14 points for writing your name?

Not a set number -- it's GPA-dependent... so if he has really bad grades in HS, he will need a higher test score to get in and viceversa...
Golden has the opportunity to be back for the fall(maybe even summer) -- just has to get off academic suspension and get the grades up enough to meet ncaa minimum requirements. This is basically the same scenario as Brassell -- just went under suspension in a different semester.
Also worth noting that as a "walk on" he probably doesn't have the same amount of help available to him -- and I doubt his grades/progress is monitored nearly as closely as the scholarship guys. If true, it's dumb of our coaching staff -- but it's the only way this being allowed to happen makes sense to me.

If I remember right, Paul said he had above a 3.0, so I think he needs a 17 or maybe an 18?

I dunno about all that -- I don't doubt that Paul was told this, but I think someone may not be telling him the whole truth.
If the kid had a 3.0, why were we the only college that recruited him consistently? Why was he not rated higher? Practically everyone else gave up on him EARLY in the process "because of grades" and that is what kept his star ratings down. So, that part of it doesn't pass the sniff test to me -- because NO part of a 3.0 screams "grade risk" at all...
It seems more likely that he has terrible grades, but is an above average(relative terms) standardized test taker -- meaning that schools looked at his grades and said "no chance" but we kept talking to him and he ended up posting a high test score that we felt with slight improvement gave us a good chance to get him into school.
Other sources are not nearly as confident as Paul that he gets in. I'm still hopeful -- just passing on what I've heard from some that usually have a pretty good idea if they are talking about it.
That said, I agree -- he would probably see the field immediately and has potential to be a gamechanger for us in the future.

You would think so, but actually not true. I've seen a review of the academic center/program and what all student athletes are required to do. Let's just say that if you don't make your grades in our current program, you are either not trying at all or literally as dumb as a rock.

He's not from a poor area. Why people ever listen to anything you say is completely lost on me.

Are we talking about Gray or Golden now? Golden comes from a good family.
