I'm worried about D-Line recruiting more than anything else. Zero DL commits last year, only one so far this year in Roberson. We'll get Thomas I think, and I was feeling confident about Johnson until this weekend. Have no idea what we're doing at DT since it looks like we're going to wiff on all the decent DT prospects again this year, barring any late bloomers

The DT concern is valid; the concern about defensive recruiting in general is not.

Texas has some real fundamental problems right now that they aren't even beginning to address. Mack and DeLoss are still acting like it's 2005 and Texas owns the world so every top recruit is praying nightly they get a Texas offer. The atmosphere of entitlement and lack of understanding of how the world has shifted is pervasive. The best example to illustrate it to me is how Texas, A&M, and Bama all have redone their weight rooms. Watch the 3 videos about them:

Bama

A&M

Texas

Don't get me wrong, Texas has a fine facility but if Mack and Co are acting as though this new "upgrade" makes Texas the best facility around it's not only wrong it makes them look out of touch. How Texas has let this kind of thing happen with the money in the AD is mind boggling, they literally have just fallen asleep at the wheel.

There are lots of other factors as well such as the number of high profile recruits that have just gone into the abyss at Texas in recent years and the change in what "success" means. I mean Mack acted like they just won the Big 12 after the KU win.

Now Texas will eventually decide to put out some new and shiny facilities on par with the rest but the problem is by that time they will be coming from behind and stuck in the Big 12. They are going to have to go through a lot of pain to get there though. DeLoss needs to go. Mack needs to go. Most importantly though Texas MUST make the right hires to replace them and that is going to be the most difficult part of the process. They also need to get the fans, alums, team, and Admin all on the same page. Right now far too many are still in denial. You listen to Mack or DeLoss and they are still acting like "We're the Joneses" when they just aren't anymore.
