Minter is officially shown as starting 11 games in 2011...he was 5th on the team in tackles...you should've bolded Mingo's name before you bolded Minters, as Mingo only started 4 games. Still, he led the team in TFL and was 2nd in sacks...

Downs and Edwards are best examples for the point I think you're trying to make....the other ones seems to have been huge contributors to the defense even when they weren't primary starters. For '13 you can include DT Anthony Johnson in that discussion. Perhaps Ronald Martin and Jalen Collins too. LSU brings back starters Barrow, Mills, and Loston as returnees who have started 6 or more games in '12.

You are looking at a participation report. I watched the games. Simon played nickel and was suspended for part of the year. Minter may have "started" some games, but again until the end of the season he hardly played. You saw a lot of Baker/Jones/Francois/Hatcher.

I'm looking at the official participation report....but looking not only at the number of listed starts, but also at the PRODUCTION those players had for the team. Saying a player started 10+ games means little if he didn't contribute much. And saying a player didn't start, and therefore wasn't a factor to the team means little if he's a team leader in tackles, TFL, sacks, INTs, etc.

Those players I listed not only had the starts, but they were also at the top of the team stats as production leaders. You can't deny that means a lot....
