Anyone care to speculate on how the Ags would have fared with Tobi Oyedeji had he not been killed in a car wreck back in 2010?

6'9" power forward out of high school where he was a star and highly recruited. A program like ours has a hard time recovering from a tragedy like this. Would love to have seen Tobi for 2 or 3 years as an Aggie before heading off to a probable NBA career.

Now that season is officially in the toilet it got be to thinking what could have been...

Hard to say but he was a good recruit and not an elite recruit. Certainly losing him was a tragedy and hurt on many levels but he was not likely to be a program changer.

Tobi was 4 star top 100 in Rivals. He was still growing and might well have been 6'10 or taller by sophmore year.

He was an elite recruit for A&M. Maybe not for Duke or North Carolina but he was one for us.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful or to downplay him. Sure, he could have grown into a great player. Realistically though he was a very good player that would have helped but he wasn't a sure fire "1 and done" who comes in like Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant. We have had a lot of guys with similar ratings to Tobi that were nice contributors and started.

I think the emotional impact of losing him was as great as the actual loss of the talent. He was a great kid who had developed strong relationships before stepping on campus.

Not elite, but likely the best player on the team.

Here's 2 more for you:

What if Antoine Wright was a senior on the 2006 squad?

What if Junior Elonu was a senior on the 2010 squad?
