South Carolina has a men's team as well

I've always assumed it was because there aren't enough SEC schools that field men's soccer teams. Similar to wrestling, schools would have to add a women's sport due to Title IX.

Was a thread on this recently, but it should be. I would assume Title IX is the biggest obstacle at this point.

Baseball uses up all the funds.

it has to do with the amount of men's and women's sports teams and number of male or female athletes. there is an NCAA rule stating that the numbers have to be near equal (sorry not sure of the NCAA policy number or i would link it)
edit: title 9 ^^

Title 9
That's the only reason.

it is upsetting because LSU's club team competed in the national championship club tourny

Title 9 is the correct answer. If they sec did have soccer teams they would be good. The south east has a lot of good highschool soccer talent.

Because the southeast isn't as progressive as the rest of the country. None of the good high school athletes play it in our states minus Florida, so recruiting would be an issue as well.

Kentucky and South Carolina have both men's and women's soccer.

Their are many great players in the south east. I stated high school earlier but a lot of the good talent does not play high school soccer. This is because most recruiting is done at the club level.

I wish somehow the SEC could add a soccer league. that would be awesome. I'm a big soccer fan. Attend the lady tiger's soccer games when I can.
...they could add women's water polo to counter title IX. surely the men's soccer teams would generate enough funds to support themselves. hopefully they look into this soon if they haven't already

Forgot to add.

I thought the reason was because it is a puss sport that is boring. Plus, anything that would take money away from football in the SEC is a big no no. If im an A.D. im trying to cut more programs to keep money in football where it belongs. They earn it so they should keep most of it.
