Take out an insurance plan. I heard Tebow was insured for $1 mil and that was 5 or 6 years ago. Clowney could probably take one out for $5 mil or more, given his value.

Saw this mentioned somewhere, the issue however is that as a #1 overall pick he would earn around 22 million over the life of his 1st contract plus any endorsements, side deals, ect so the insurance would be a drop in the bucket compared to all the revenue he would lose

Consider Ervin "Magic" Johnson who's 2012 net worth was estimated at 500 million. I don't know if insurance policies were available when he was in college but had he got injured, I I doubt the policy would compensate for his full earning potential, influence, and status

McGahee took out a $2.5MM insurance policy prior to the NC game. He actually turned the money down and said frick it, I'm busting my arse and entering the draft.
