So the kid isn't dumb he just made a choice to perform under his capabilities to limit his options. I'll call that stupid to at the risk of upsetting you further.

I just don't see it to be that great of a leap to call him stupid. And I don't think we are under a gag order to not say negative things about recruits.

We aren't but as I said your POV is overly judgmental and to be blunt, it's snobbish. I can understand picking on players for how they perform on the field but to call anyone flat out stupid for not applying himself is tactless and not upholding the character of what it means to be an Auburn man. Many, many teenagers don't apply themselves to the fullest. It's apart of growing up for many of them. IMO calling Derrick stupid is much worse than calling a Bama fan a Bammer and a UGA fan a leghumper which I found out real fast was a NO NO on this board. I am a very smart person book wise but only had a 1.8 GPA through my junior year because I was lazy, did not care, and did not see the point of doing the work then. It was definitely a mistake but I am far from stupid. As for Derrick, he has changed who his friends are and started applying himself. Most men who hang out with rough crowds do not make that kind of positive change while they are in high school. The young man should be commended for making those changes and applying himself instead of having his past focused on to where he is labeled stupid...Rant Over.
