What separates A&M from Texas is that A&M has one of if not the largest physical campus in the world. The amount of unused space on campus is enormous. As in, there is significantly more empty space than there is space covered by buildings.
So if A&M can expand the university while keeping research budgets huge and admission standards high, then why the hell not?

The top 10% rule is what kept me out of A&M. I was a straight A student, finished with a 97 average in a class of 72 but failed to reach the top 10% of my class (finished #9). I graduated in a very smart class that had 2 students score a 1600 on their SATs, I scored a 1240. So because of that I was not accepted and ended up graduating from UNT.

Berry College says eat a dick.
And that 5,500 acre number is such an exaggerated truth. I'm sorry, but your airport and golf course are not part of your "campus".

There are technically larger campuses but A&M does have a monster, esp when you consider how much of the space is used and could be expanded to be used.
FWIW, the airport is absolutely part of campus. It is the home of the Firefighter training center which is one of the best in the world and firefighters come from all over there every Summer. The golf course also is used by our Ag Dept, A&M has a golf course design program and we know all about growing grass.
The main East and West campuses though are massive by themselves and could easily accommodate another 25k students, esp with a few more parking garages and taller buildings. With the PUF A&M can basically build all the buildings it wants on the academic and research side.

Hardly. But TAMU has a long history of exaggerating statements to make themselves appear more prominent.

Texas A&M University 09-10 Undergraduate Catalog
quote:
A commission created to locate the institution accepted the offer of 2,416 acres of land from the citizens of Brazos County in 1871, and instruction began in 1876.
As the State of Texas grew, so did its land grant institution. Texas A&M now has a physical plant valued at more than $1 billion. The campus in College Station includes 5,200 acres and is one of the largest campuses of any major institution of higher education in the nation.

our campus is huge.. I don't see why you'd care, but yes, the airport is used for school stuff all the time, and should be counted.
I also took golf on the golf course as a class.

This isn't an exaggeration. The A&M campus is gigantic. This isn't even including the Riverside campus where we have a nuclear power plant (one of the only on campus nuclear reactors in the world).
The West campus could easily be expanded to increase the university by another 50,000 students if we wanted. The other thing that separate A&M from many other universities is that A&M owns all of the land and is not leasing it. With the PUF money, we can build more or less indefinitely.

We have two nuclear reactors actually, one is underneath Zachary and the other is at Easterwood airport.

You Ags are walking talking Wiki. You know no one knows shite about you and it's your jobs to "educate" the "ignorant".
You're the NCAA version of the Latter Day Saints.

Yes, 2000+ acres in your main campus is massive, but hardly the 5,500 the aggies claim.

Damn, you mad.
Okay, buddy. Our campus is not as huge as your hatred for A&M. We surrender. Whatever the hell it is you are arguing, YOU WIN.

On the contrary, I actually like TAMU a lot and enjoyed College Station very much. If you'd cut out the "we have to be the biggest, coolest, and most unique" shtick out, it would be appreciated.
