University of Virginia and Virginia Tech have some of the nicest campuses Ive been to outside of the SEC. Charlottesville, VA is a really nice area--surrounded by vineyards, mountains, and southern estates.

quote:Actually, a few of the buildings on UF's campus have been used in movies as stand-ins for Harvard University buildings. UF's Campus Historic District is gorgeous (I'm biased). Most of the buildings are in a Gothic architectural style with gargoyles/grotesques, and many of the buildings are covered in ivy. UF has none of the Greek Revival architecture that is so prevalent on most SEC campuses. Gothic architecture along with palm trees and tropical foliage give UF's campus a very unique look, imo.
The thing I notice about that list is the fact that most of those colleges are small. I say that the reason they're the nicest is the fact that they aren't big enough to be considered ugly. There are parts of UF that could be mistaken for an Ivy League campus.
Outside of the Historic District, the buildings are generally ugly.

Do you even know who founded, and designed, The University of Georgia and its campus?
