These seem like legit candidates.

Too bad we couldn't have gotten Joker. Really weird timing with Yost leaving and the replacement taking so long. Strange that we are just now looking for WR coach.

Does this have something to do with the "quiet time", i.e., we make a hire and then hit it hard when recruiting opens back up. I hope so.

Not particularly exciting, but I suppose of those two I'd probably prefer Washington, if only because he's coached for years in the SEC and should have some recruiting ties.

Now, if he doesn't have a good reputation with the HS coaches? No.

I just looked up recruits these guys have pulled over the years on Rivals. None of them get Blue Chips. Only 2-3 stars, if they were able to even get any recruits in each year.

I understand trying to get the guy from Iowa, because you are trying to sell the Upper Midwest to SEC Football, but I dont think either of these guys will be the recruiting answer that we were hoping for.

In 06' Campbell was the lead recruiter for 5* Brandon Graham from Detroit, 4* Greg Matthews from Orlando, and 4* Adam Patterson from Columbia,SC.

Signed 2 4 star guys in 09' too.

Look at his track record coaching receivers and tight ends. Looks like it would be a solid hire to me.

Washington has been at USM so he won't pull in too many blue chippers but did help with bringing 4* DeAndre Brown to USM.

Would you prefer a decent WR coach that's a recruiting stud or a stud WR coach that's a decent recruiter? Not sure but think I want a recruiter.

This is encouraging on the Campbell front. Look at his haul in this class.

I pointed that out earlier in the thread. Rivals doesn't list who brought in what recruits before 2006.

He's been recruiting for IOWA, nobody can bring in big time recruits there year after year.

Works for me. I truly think to compete the level of players has to increase first. I know stars don't mean everything, but top 20 classes year in and year out are bound to end up being better than top 40 classes year in and year out.

I see that now. When I originally read that, I thought you meant "Lead recruiter" as in recruited them but was unsuccessful in getting them in.

Gotcha

I think he's a solid recruiter. It would be nice to have a Tosh Lupoi or a Dameyune Craig but at this stage I think it would be a good hire.
