Thought experiment: if Saban had coached USC from 2009-present what would his record look like?

Also, some other points:

1) The SEC is much stronger now so while that makes it more difficult for Saban it also means he reaps the reward of winning the SEC, namely an automatic spot in the BCSNCG. Spurrier won 6 SEC championships but only played for the title twice, I believe. Hard to imagine winning 6 SEC titles these days and only having a shot at the nat'l twice.

2) Even though the SEC is stronger now, the national picture was much stronger under Spurrier. He had to play Miami and FSU each year, and went up against some of those powerhouse Nebraska and OU programs.

If you're asking who I want in one game w/ my life on the line I go w/ Spurrier. He is the stronger all around coach and gets the most out of his players. Saban is a better recruiter and has a more balanced "system" that is probably better long term for a program's health. I fear for USC after Spurrier leaves. If we had Saban, I think we'd be in stronger shape after he retired.
