I never saw the Elston hit so I'm not commenting on it. Maybe Slive did overreact. But saying Murray was a "defenseless player" just because he started that play as the offensive quarterback, and ignoring the fact that he ended that play as a defender in the act if running towards the ball carrier, is ridiculous.

It wasn't that he was defenseless as much as it was a blindside hit helmet to helmet. Dial headhunted Murray too. Wasn't even involved on the play and he sought him out.

It was a dirty play and he should have been suspended.

You can't say Murray wasn't involved in the play. He was running towards the ball and Dial hit him before Dix was tackled. Dix and Murray end up on the ground less than ten yards away from each other.

I'm not going to say there wasn't helmet to helmet contact, there obviously was, but it's clear to me Dial led with his right shoulder, not the top of his helmet/crown. The helmet contact happened because their heads were at about the same level and their momentum didn't stop at the shoulder. Does that warrant a penalty flag? Slive says it does. I have no problem with that. But deserving a flag doesn't mean he should have been suspended.
