Factors you're not considering:

1. Mark Snyder is a far better defensive coach than Tim DeRuyter.

2. Charles McMillan was the worst defensive backs coach in A&M history. Every defensive back regressed under him. He was the DB coach under Franchione AND Sherman. Defensive backs were soft, out of position, and played 10+ yards off the LOS on almost every play under his reign.

3. A&M's personnel were far more suited for a 4-3 scheme than a true 3-4. Damontre Moore's natural position was weakside defensive end and DeRuyter had him at OLB.

4. Larry Jackson is possibly the best strength and conditioning coach in the country. Last year we were gassed by halftime. This year, we were mauling people after halftime.
