I tend to disagree. Duke has not shown they can maintain in a post K world and the Gophers are the only 3 peat in college football but nobody thinks of them as a force today. That is what makes elite teams elite in the sense that they are still powerful decades or generations later. Alabama football and Kentucky basketball are in a very different place in both past history and present history.

Below this is a level of good and great programs that can wax and wane over time. Arkansas has had periods of good basketball but they have had some serious valleys in between. Tennessee has a longer expiration level based on their past but if they stay down they will become another Minnesota. Part of the task is getting there but a bigger task is staying there. Missouri could become a force in the future but they are not there yet and they would have to sustain greatness for quite some time to be elite.
