Mizzou Offensive Line Coach Henson Leaving for Southern Miss

COLUMBIA -- Missouri co-offensive line coach Josh Henson is leaving to become offensive coordinator at Southern Mississippi, KOMU 8 Sports has learned.

Henson has been with the Tigers since 2009.

At Southern Miss, he will be reunited with new Golden Eagles coach Todd Monken. Henson worked with Monken at Oklahoma State and at Louisiana State under head coach Les Miles.

Missouri now has two openings on its coaching staff with the earlier resignation of offensive coordinator David Yost.

UPDATE: Gabe D says he has not accepted the positon

Gabe DeArmond ?@GabeDeArmond
Henson has not declined USM but as of right now has not accepted.

Two sources tell me that #Mizzou OL coach Josh Henson has NOT accepted an offer from Southern Miss as of now. (Ctd)

While I think Andy Hill probably deserves a shot..

The great news of Yost leaving has turned into a worst case scenario.

We lose a young fresh face with southern ties... no jolt to our coaching staff. Whatever.

Henson leaving hurts chances with Andy Bauer and could casue us to lose Clay Rhodes.

This sucks. Pinkel really needs to make some good hires.

Need some good news. Hopefully we get some commitments this week.

PowerMizzou reports that Clay Rhodes is being recruited by Andy Hill not Josh Henson.

What does an associate line coach do ??

We have probably already lot Andy Bauer to Alabama, but we can't afford to lose out on Clay Rhodes. Sounds like this is coming down to Hill or Henson for OC, and whichever one doesn't get the job is likely to leave. What a cluster-frick.

Matter pisses me off sometimes. That didn't need to be tweeted, but whatever.

And Semo, Andy Hill is not going anywhere. If Henson was hired Hill would still be here.

This is now turning into a complete joke. If I was committed to Mizzou I'd be seriously thinking of other options.

Henson hasn't made up his mind one way or another yet. Not sure what you expect the staff "to do" honestly.

Why does it seem that all the continuity this program had is gone? I get that Yost was a good recruiter, but are you telling my that GP doesn't have any input with these kids?

At the very least he could make some phone calls and give them some reassurance that everything is ok. Sounds like the wheels are completely falling off, starting at the top.

The thing I find somewhat funny is everyone wanted Yost gone and are now freaking out because of the aftermath.

Thats not directed at you SoCal just a general observation reading PM and TB.

I agree. I can understand Henson taking time to make a decision, I can even understand Mizzou taking time to make their decision.. but there is no reason recruits should be asking Matter what is going on.. that is a joke.

Whats he supposed to tell them? Henson may or may not be part of the program next year? When Henson makes up his mind the staff will address the issue with recruits. The fallout will be the fallout. Folks wanted Yost gone and now that he is gone its caused inevitable issues down the food chain.

Way to much being made of Matter's tweet.

I see where you are coming from.. but I think people are more upset about this rinky dink handling of things lately. I also don't think people anticipated Henson getting an OC offer from someone else.. I guess it is a lesson to us to make sure we know what we're asking, before we ask.
