re: Everyone will be running the spread within 7 years

In regard to the comments about the spread working in the NFL: the NFL is two or three rule changes away from becoming straight-up flag football, and last time I checked, you can't play flag football with a pro-style/running attack. It's spread or nothing. Not saying it's right or wrong (NFL), but it just is. College may not be there for a while since college players "usually" are better disciplined and don't hit as hard, so the concussion fears are not nearly as big a deal (yet). With all that going for it, the spread has no inherent advantage over pro-style, so don't look for one to take over anytime soon.
