I saw, with Clear, y'all are up to 32 commits for the '13 class. Do y'all have any idea how many y'all can take in this class?

The reason I ask, we are recruiting several guys who we may end up with solely because your class is full/nearly full.

They are going after Houston Nutt's record of 37

ETA: Georgia has 31 commits also.

I've heard between 33 and 36 from different folks.

36 seems unbelievable.

I'm guessing that the people throwing that number out there think the coaches are going to have to hedge on some of the grade risks.

Between 2-3 are grade risks who we likely won't be able to accept LOIs from as a result.

Between 6-10 are mid-term enrollees who would count against last year's class.

We signed 19 last year, but only 15 counted against the 2012 class (4 early entrants).

We only have 75 current scholarship players (might be only 74 depending on what happens with Thomas Johnson). 16 of those are seniors.

That means we can have up to 10 count against the 2012 class if they enroll early. At least 6 are projected to do so.

I would like to see us cut Griffin and Kohl to make room. Kohl is going to MLB after watching JFF this Fall, and Griffin as awesome as he is just isn't going to make it.

I do believe that ANY recruit still taking visits at this time will be cut if it comes down to it - too many studs looking at us. I think we finish with one of Savage/Mitchell, Williams/RSJ, and possibly Smith/Hall. Manning is the wild card - we'd love to have him, but I think he is set on OU.

If TCU beats OU this weekend, I think we get Manning but someone else has to slide out.

You think Sumilin would pull a ship on a kid who has been committed for over a year?

I don't, with the exception that anyone with grades that aren't in order come January is getting the boot.

I think Sumlin cuts any kids that are a MAJOR grade risk - Griffen is one of those.

nobody is being "cut". You need to chill as they all know their situation.

Kohl was told to make a decision but we aren't giving ultimatums here. We had a conversation with him and told him you can't sign if you don't commit to us. He knows this. He doesn't want to let anyone down and he doesn't want to limit his options. He can always choose to grey shirt if he decides to come to A&M and still keep his MLB options open. This is the likely outcome.

The grade risks also know exactly where they stand. They will not sign a LOI unless they are in good shape academically. Let's quit with the bullshite we should "cut" so and so.

Also, wherever you are getting recruiting info from is way out of the loop. You are making comments in multiple threads that are simply inaccurate.

Griffin hasn't been considered an A&M commit by any insiders for a while now. I'd love to have him, but he isn't going to make the grades. Kohl is going MLB, according to a friend close to the family.

So whether we "cut" them or not, they aren't going to play for A&M next year.

"I would like to see us cut Griffin and Kohl" has pretty strong connotations and it sounds pretty shitty. I'd suggest either explaining the situation or don't say anything at all. These are people, not some video game players.

You can't CUT anyone until they've already signed and/or make it to fall camp.

We didn't CUT Edmund Ray...he was academically ineligible, for example.

According to another site, one of the JUCOs that was supposed to enroll midterm had his offer pulled. The reason was that "a player that was supposed to go to the NFL is now staying".

It's 36.

2012 had 19 with 4 being early enrollees and 1 not qualifying. That leaves 14 ships used for 2012 so we can have 11 midtermers this year to get to 25. Plus 25 for this year so 36.

so if you sign 36 players that means you only have 49 returning players on your entire roster???

Are yall graduating/losing that many seniors???
