Jackson probably would have been identical to Baton Rouge if there was a single state school that was there from the beginning.

Meh.

South Louisiana's culture is VASTLY different than that in Jackson, MS.


ETA:

Catholic v. Non-Catholic Baby Murderers (I kid, I kid)

Drinking/alcoholism and cajun cuisine culture is so different from the bible belt area of JAckson. First Pres is where all the gossip goes down in Jackson. Everybody knows everything about everybody's business.

JAckson is WAYY more traditional Southern. And besides Eastover, Jackson itself has completely moved to other cities.

I've always thought that Vicksburg or Natchez would have made a great SEC college town. Both have a lot of history, they are pretty attractive towns, right on the MS river, casinos, etc. Add in a major university and bar scene and it would be pretty cool imo.
