This broke yesterday. However, I think this is huge news for our program on several levels.
1. He's the highest rated QB since Garcia.
2. He's more of a traditional pocket passer (maybe SOS is getting more confident about the OL.)
3. He's a gamer, holding a bunch of NC passing/TD records.
4. We have some serious depth next year with Shaw, Thompson, Nos and now Mitch.
5. Mitch will have 2 Spring Practice seasons under his belt before 2014, when he may be called up to start.
Barring injury or some kind of catastrophic setback, Shaw will be the starter in '13. However, 2014 will be ok too, as we will have Thompson as a 5th year Sr, Nos as a RS So, and Mitch as a RS Fr. In addition to whoever else we sign, possibly Barker. We will have quality QB depth.
Don't overlook Nos either, he has a bunch of the PA passing, TD records too and was a Parade All American.

Possible change to the Fun'N'Gun? I've watched some of his highlight videos and the kid seems like he can make every throw on the field with good arm strength.

Isn't he from NC? Raleigh I think.
I hope he ends up being the best QB we've had under Spurrier.

True, made the correction.

I was talking with someone who, let's say, sees practices every day. Anyway, Mitch has been to quite a few of our practices and this same person, who I was speaking with ... a friend of mine, he and his fellow employees have seen a ton of film of Mitch and listened to G.A. and Spurrier talk about him a lot of times ... and they are, apparently, very high on Mitch. Giddy even. More than any QB recruit in a long long time evidently. So they must see something really special about him.
As it was told to me, he can make all the passes, good strong arm with touch, very heady, a student of the game. Smart kid. A leader. Well received by other players, has already endeared himself with some of this year's redshirts. Plus - he can run. He's not just a drop back passer, he's mobile enough to get around and escape pressure. He only runs a 4.7 but his first step is very quick and he can get rid of the ball on the run and under pressure. Knows how to move around in the pocket. A beast in the weight room.
So I asked, "Well, what about Nosovitch? I thought he could do all those things?"
And I was told, "Nosovitch is good, he has a lot of potential. But Mitch might be one of those special QBs that only comes along once a decade or so for some programs. If we coach him up and give him time to learn the system he could be a good one."
We'll see in a few years I guess.
