wait, so OSU ran the same exact offense that a&m does?

you mean they were calling Weeden on designed runs/options, etc? you're telling me that Weeden was as mobile as Manziel is showing himself to be?

A&M's offense is way different than OSU in that they are able to add that extra dimension of a true running threat at the QB position.

Weeden stood back in the pocket all day long and picked teams apart by going to Blackmon all day, with the occasional sprinkling of Randle.

It's apples and oranges. just because both teams throw alot doesn't mean they are the same offense.

They're similar in their spread applications and intent to put as much speed and athleticism on the field as possible. Weeden is obviously more mobile, but they attack the edges with speed and get defenders in space.

If Sumlin has a mobile QB he'll use zone read to get to the perimeter. If not he'll use outside zones or bubbles screens. It's the same concepts just different applications.

it's not even just that.

Manziel might be the toughest QB to sack in recent memory. He's no statue like Weeden.

That's the dimension that nobody accounts for, the escapability of Manziel against teams that are not built to stop someone like him.

Who knows what would have happened if A&M would have had Swope when they played UF and LSU.
