Is it just me?

I came across this ad on texags today. It seems to me that our biggest problem in terms of a sizable minority of the general public seeing us as a freaky cult is garbage like this, and this is being down by our own Athletic Department (fundraising branch). Every time I see something like this or the video of us introducing ourselves to the rest of the conference, I feel like our marketing people are just 100% wrong in what they're presenting to the general public.

Meh. I am pretty thrilled with Jason Cook overall and think he has done some great things in terms of making A&M look more modern and cutting edge. Sure he has had a few duds and some things I disagree with but he also seems to be VERY aware of the A&M brand and reacts quickly when things go poorly to correct it.
I really don't like that they have killed off "Old Sarge" but was glad that the "TStar" is gone for instance. I know you are referring to this promotion and the disastrous SEC video when we first came in the conference but those are blips on the radar really. I have never seen A&M get anything close to the pub we are getting now and it hasn't happened just because we made the SEC move. Cook is working it hard behind the scenes to get people knowledgable about A&M and to show off our school in the best light as much as possible. We have certainly had large parts of our history where we didn't spend a thought on real marketing.

We're perceived as weird. So frick it, when we stomp LSU, FL, and bama (and it will happen) our weird will be awesome. Gator chomp, pig sooie et al all weird. But they won. Now no one gives.
