The thing is though that A&M is doing exactly that or at least trying to.
The thing is, they aren't ever trying to do anything other than what the defense lets them. At that point in the game(the 1st and 10 at the 16), the LSU defense knew it didn't have to protect the pass as much, and A&M was dared to throw.

The only thing better than running the ball is being able to run or pass with equal effectiveness and I think that is what A&M is trying to do.
No. Again, they are trying to do whatever the defense lets them. Kliff's own words. They aren't dictating anything. That is why the run is getting abandoned in the second half against defenses once they figure out how to adjust to the run game and pin their ears back.

If I see A&M come out and throw the ball 3 times unsuccessfully inside the 20 then I will give your point some credence, that just isn't what is happening.
1st and 10 at LSU 16 Johnny Manziel rush for 2 yards to the LSU 14.
2nd and 8 at LSU 14 Johnny Manziel pass incomplete.
3rd and 8 at LSU 14 Johnny Manziel pass incomplete to Uzoma Nwachukwu.
Passing 2 out of 3 times and a QB draw(I can't remember if that was a scramble or a draw) isn't what you're describing.

Here is that series:
LINK
Look at the first play which was a QB draw. Manziel has a walk in TD but inexplicably goes right instead of left right into the defender. It was a perfect RUN call. On 2nd Down LSU sends a blitz up the middle and is literally on top on Manziel almost as soon as he gets the ball and he makes a poor throw to get rid of it that almost gets picked. Manziel should have picked up the blitz and called an audible. Still, that was 2nd and 8 which isn't an ideal running down (if he had run it would have been a loss). Then you have 3rd and 8 where they run a quick out pattern to EZ right at the pylon. Manziel just makes a bad throw here or else it is 6 points.
That series was all on the Freshman QB. Maybe he got too excited or whatever but his execution was poor on all 3 plays while at least 2 of the 3 plays should have scored a TD.
