That was the last game of the season, so technically Freeze won an SEC west game before Mullen did if you compare their first seasons.
Also, it wasn't until the early seventies that teams began playing 11 game schedules (now 12). Before that, you would have to have been undefeated and untied to have a 10 win regular season.
